Baby Won’t You Please Come Home
Charles Warfield, Clarence Williams Arranged by: Mike Carubia
This classic Clarence Williams composition was written at the very beginning of the Jazz Age and speaks in the Count Basie language. An 8 measure written piano solo feeds into a quiet full ensemble melody with brass in bucket mutes. (Open in stand will do) Well placed unisons and ensemble writing leads to a 16 bar tenor sax solo (suggested written solo is provided) then builds to a final full ensemble shout chorus a minor third higher. Includes an optional flute part. The unique surprise ending will treat the audience and band to a few happy moments. Hint: (Opt. one bar vocal ending)
