Donald Patterson
Don Patterson has been deeply involved with band music since childhood as a student, collector, performer, teacher, arranger, and professional and has been making arrangements and transcriptions for over 30 years. Earning a BMusEd from Sam Houston State University (1984), he studied theory, composition, and orchestration from Dr. Fisher Tull, Dr. James Marks, and Dr. Newton Strandberg.
Upon earning his degree, Don taught band in the public schools of Galena Park and Tomball for seven years, before auditioning for and securing a position in one of the nation’s premiere military bands in Washington, D.C. While serving as assistant principal trombonist with the Marine Band, he caught the attention of the directors with his transcriptions for band, and he was moved to the Music Production Staff in 2003, of which he now Chief.
