Jonathan T. Parker
Born in Jacksonville, North Carolina, Jonathan Thedford Parker attended Southwest Onslow High School. Shortly after high school, he joined the United States 113th Army Band as a saxophone player, and graduated from the United States Armed Forces School of Music. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from North Carolina A&T State University where he studied under Dr. William C. Smiley. Further inspired to continue his studies, Parker then earned a master’s degree in Music Education from The Ohio State University. Jonathan has taught in public schools since 1996. He studied formally under Dr. Quincy C. Hilliard and Mr. William Owens, both highly regarded composers and educators. His arrangements and compositions have been performed in the United States, Japan, Okinawa, and the Republic of South Korea. Mr. Parker has memberships that include Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Outside of his teaching and musical endeavors, Parker enjoys amateur cycling and yoga.
